Fall Social Extravaganza Sign In or Register to add photos

SUCCESS! Central Valley FEAT?s first Fall Social Extravaganza was a huge success on rainy Saturday, November 1, 2008 at Gym Force in Tracy. Seventeen children under the age of six and their siblings began arriving early for the 10:30 am to 12:30 pm event. Children could not take off their shoes and socks fast enough so that they could bounce and fall down the huge slide attached to the bounce house; hop along the long trampolines until they reached the end where they could slide to the floor; and run up, down, and around the soft bolsters spread throughout the gym floor. After a long free play period, Moira Leoz, owner of Gym Force, called together all the parents, youngsters, siblings and volunteers to organize a structured playtime. The kids jumped high on the trampolines, slid down the slide, walked carefully on the balance beam, zigzagged on the obstacle course, and ended with a jump in the bounce house. The children and parents worked up an appetite to enjoy both healthy and less healthy snacks donated by Costco, Save-Mart, and Safeway. Twenty children between the ages of seven and twenty-one along with their siblings also began arriving early for their 1:30-3:30 pm event. They experienced the same excitement as the younger children when they entered the gym. Parents of both sessions gathered information available to them on the resource table. Parents and children alike had such an enjoyable time; many parents indicated an interest in attending a future regularly scheduled gymnastics class for their children. Many thanks go to the large number of people who helped make the social event such a success including Moira Leoz and her crew, volunteers from Kendall School, Elizabeth Forrest, Costco, Safeway, Save-Mart, and the CVFEAT Board.
